Starting with $60 and a borrowed truck, George O’Connell and his brother Michael established O’Connell Landscape Maintenance in 1971 with a commitment to building their business based on creating quality customer relationships. Today the company continues to thrive with hundreds of employees and equipment dispatched daily from 20 locations throughout Southern California. George had a vision to enhance the beauty of residential communities and commercial properties while staying true to his commitment to the customer. We may be a large company now, but his vision remains.
Jim joined the O'Connell team early on. He has worked alongside George to develop the company into the success it is today. Not only is Jim President of O'Connell Landscape, but he also manages our largest master planned community, Ladera Ranch. Drive down Avendale Boulevard and you will be surrounded by lush landscaping and beautifully maintained trees thanks to the hard work that Jim devotes to this community.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Since starting in 1983 as a driver and inventory control clerk, Darren's responsibilities have grown along with O'Connell. From managing the purchasing department, the fleet and multiple key accounts to Chief Financial Office.
As Chief Financial Officer, Darren has developed and implemented the company's financial performance standards, control systems along with its financial reporting. In addition, he oversees the legal and human resource departments including employee benefits.
Darren received his Bachelors in Business Administration from California State University Fullerton while working full time at O'Connell.
Vice President of Operations
Jack is an integral part of the O'Connell team with over 29 years in the Landscape Industry. He has a BS from the University of Oregon in Communication and Marketing making him a strong resource for both O'Connell and the communities he oversees.

Jon Louis has over 35 years of experience in the landscape industry. Jon is a Certified Arborist and has a Qualified Applicator License from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. Jon is a strong leader and knows what it takes to ensure our jobs are running smoothly.

Jim Galen has over 30 years of experience in the landscape industry and has worked for O’Connell for 20 years. Jim is a Certified Arborist, bilingual, has a Qualified Applicator License from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, and has his own Contractor License from the State of California. Jim is another strong leader, knowing what it takes to keep our jobs running smoothly.
